To be close to the business and entertainment in downtown but live in a quieter area, check out Jacksonville North homes. The area is one of the larger neighborhoods in Jacksonville, going roughly from north of the Urban Core to the west and north along the St. Johns River. Panama Park and North Shore are two of the older neighborhoods within the Northside area. They were both cities in their own right before being annexed by Jacksonville. This gives each neighborhood a distinctive feel and community cohesion.
Not only is it a beautiful place to live, Jacksonville North real estate offers many transportation options. The Jacksonville International Airport, the Amtrak station, and the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal are all in the neighborhood, making travel for business or pleasure very easy. I-95 facilitates car travel around the city and beyond. The local public elementary school, New Berlin Elementary School, turns in excellent scores on state testing and receives good parent reviews. There are also several private schools nearby, giving parents plenty of choices.
While the Urban Core and Downtown Jacksonville are very close, there’s also plenty to do around Jacksonville North homes. River City Marketplace has excellent shopping, including Old Navy, Ross Dress for Less, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Michael’s, Lowe’s, and Best Buy, among others. The Regal Cinemas 14-screen theater is the place to go to see the latest films.
Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is located on the Northside. It’s well worth a visit, especially with the new Land of the Tiger exhibit. In addition to creatures from around the world, the zoo also has a special enclosure for animals and plants native to Florida.
Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve is another local spot to visit. Learn about area history at Fort Caroline and Kingsley Plantation. Visitors can also check out the creatures that make their home at the preserve. There are also tours and nature walks planned regularly.
