Amelia Island Publix is back!

After more than a year without it, I finally walked through the doors of the new store this week, and I have to admit… they absolutely nailed it.

There are a few things you learn when you grow up on Amelia Island. You learn which back roads actually save time, which beach accesses are worth fighting for, and that locals are pretty protective of our Publix.

The new Publix at 1421 Sadler Road officially opened on July 2 after the original 1987 store was completely demolished and rebuilt from the ground up.

And you can tell.

The aisles are wider, the layout feels brighter, and everything has that clean, brand new feel. It is the kind of store that makes you want to take your time instead of rushing through your shopping list.

At more than 55,000 square feet, this location is larger than the average Publix and follows one of the company’s newest store designs.

One of the coolest additions is Publix POURS, where you can grab beer, wine, coffee, t ...

Swing Into Fun at Topgolf Jacksonville

Whether you’re a serious golfer or someone who’s never picked up a club, Topgolf Jacksonville has become one of Northeast Florida’s favorite places to eat, play, and spend time with friends and family. It is one of those rare spots where everyone can have a good time, regardless of age or skill level.

Located just off I 295 on the Southside of Jacksonville, Topgolf combines golf with interactive games, great food, refreshing drinks, and a lively atmosphere. Instead of playing a traditional round of golf, players hit microchipped golf balls toward giant targets spread across the driving range. The technology tracks every shot and automatically keeps score, making it easy for beginners and competitive players alike.

One of the best parts about Topgolf is that you do not need to know anything about golf to have fun. The games are simple to learn, the clubs are provided, and the staff is always happy to help you get started. If someone in you ...

Step Into History at Fort Clinch State Park

If you’ve lived in Northeast Florida for years or you’re just visiting for the weekend, Fort Clinch State Park is one of those places everyone should experience at least once. Tucked away on the northern tip of Amelia Island, this historic gem offers the perfect mix of history, nature, wildlife, and some of the most beautiful views on the First Coast.
Built in the mid 1800s, Fort Clinch is one of the best preserved 19th century forts in the country. Walking through its brick corridors feels like stepping back in time. Visitors can explore the soldiers’ quarters, kitchens, blacksmith shop, barracks, and even the massive cannons that once guarded the entrance to the St. Marys River.
On many weekends throughout the year, living history reenactors bring the fort to life. Dressed in authentic Civil War era uniforms, they demonstrate everything from blacksmithing and cooking to cannon and musket firings. It is an experience that both kids and adu ...

The Best Places to Watch a Sunset That Aren't the Beach

When most people think about catching a sunset in Northeast Florida, they picture sandy toes, crashing waves, and an ocean horizon. Don't get me wrong, our beaches put on quite a show. But some of the most beautiful sunsets in our corner of Florida happen far from the shoreline.

In fact, some of the best sunset views can be found along rivers, marshes, historic waterfronts, and quiet parks where the crowds are smaller and the scenery feels a little more personal. If you're looking for a new place to end the day, here are a few local favorites worth adding to your sunset bucket list.

One of the most underrated spots has to be the waterfront in downtown Fernandina Beach. As the sun begins to dip behind the marshes, the sky often explodes with shades of orange, pink, and purple that reflect off the water and dance around the shrimp boats docked along the harbor. Grab an ice cream, take a stroll down Centre Street, and make your way toward the marina for a front row s ...

Rainy Days in Northeast Florida: Why a Little Rain Doesn’t Have to Ruin Your Plans

In Northeast Florida, a sunny morning can quickly turn into an afternoon thunderstorm.
While rain may change your plans, it doesn’t have to ruin them.
In fact, some of the area’s best experiences happen when the weather encourages us to slow down and explore indoors.
From museums and bookstores to family attractions and creative spaces, Northeast Florida offers plenty of ways to make the most of a rainy day.

For those who love history, there is no shortage of places to explore. In Fernandina Beach, the Amelia Island Museum of History, located at 233 South Third Street, invites visitors to step back in time and discover the stories that helped shape our community. Housed inside the former Nassau County Jail, the museum offers exhibits covering everything from pirates and shrimping to the eight flags that once flew over Amelia Island. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

A rainy day also provides ...
